Centerville Youth Inducted into BC High National Honor Society

James Ruberti of Centerville, a senior at Boston College High School, was among the 143 seniors and juniors inducted into the Robert J. Fulton, S.J. Chapter of the National Honor Society at an evening ceremony January15 at Boston College High School’s Fahey-Hunter Commons.

The evening began with a processional march by the BC High Concert Band, followed by an invocation by Father Ronald Perry, SJ, BC High Assistant Coordinator of Service and Justice Initiatives. The band then played the National Anthem, which was followed by the Welcoming Address by Odeosa idahor’14 of Hyde Park, a member of the National Honor Society. 

The guest speaker was Mr. Ulrich Alvarez, a 1993 graduate of BC High and a teacher in the BC High  Modern Language Department. Mr. Patrick Tiernan, the NHS moderator, Mr. William Kemeza, BC High president, and Mr. Charles Drane, BC High Academic Vice Principal presided over the induction.

After the induction, Sean O'Sullivan '14 of Weymouth, a member of the NHS, read the NHS Pledge. Father Ronald Perry, SJ gave the final blessing. The BC High band played the recessional. A reception for the inductees and their parents followed the ceremonies.

The National Honor Society is established under the National Association of Secondary School Principals to provide recognition to high school students who have clearly distinguished themselves in their school and community for scholarship, character, leadership and service.

Boston College High School is a Jesuit, Catholic, college-preparatory school for young men founded in 1863. The school enrolls approximately 1600 students from more than 100 communities in eastern Massachusetts.
