Town to Hold Public Hearing on Proposed Fee Hikes

Here are your Five Things to Know for the informed Barnstable resident for Tuesday, Jan. 21:

Attend a Meeting About Proposed Fee Increases: The town is mulling increasing some fees for fiscal 2015. There's a public hearing about the idea next Wednesday, Jan. 29 in the New Town Hall Hearing Room, second floor, 367 Main St., Hyannis.

New Three-Story Building Proposed in Main Street Waterfront Historic District: To learn more about the proposal for 445 Main St., Hyannis — which is parking on the first floor and residential above — there's a meeting Tuesday, 6 p.m., also at Town Hall, in the Selectman's conference room on the second floor.

Take an Advanced Homebrew Class: If you make your own beer, the folks at Cape Cod Beer in Hyannis want to help you improve with one-day classes on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Prep For the Blizzard: Of course the day's big news is that a blizzard could be on the way. On Monday, forecasts were calling for the Barnstable area to get 8-12 inches Tuesday into Wednesday. 

In Case You Missed It: Over the weekend there was news that the feds say a Marstons Mills man bilked three investors/marks out of $800,000.
