Centerville Cat for Adoption, 38th Barnstable Antiques Show Begins Friday

A roundup of five things to know in Barnstable for Friday, Aug. 16.

1. If you're a Barnstable resident and looking for a cat to add to your home, check out AJ, an affectionate 10-year-old flame point Siamese mix cat, now available for adoption through the MSPCA-Centerville Adoption Center.

2. The 38th Barnstable Antiques Show runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Barnstable-West Barnstable Elementary School. There, exhibitors from six states will display and sell a wide variety of quality antiques including 18th & 19th Century furniture, Americana, antique china and glass, Oriental porcelains, Staffordshire, antique and estate jewelry, silver, paintings and prints, books, primitives and folk art, antique linens, oriental rugs and more. 

3. A "cruise" night to benefit Cape Cod Cares for Troops will begin at 6 p.m. Friday at the Hyannis Elks Lodge at 852 Bearses Way in Hyannis. The first 50 participating vehicles will receive a dash plaque. The event will feature a barbecue, raffles, baked goods and more.
