Barnstable Town Job Postings, Weekend Event Lineup

A roundup of five things to know in Barnstable for Friday, Aug. 9.

1. Looking for a job in the town of Barnstable? A number of positions are open to the public, according to the town website, including a mechanic for the Barnstable Police Department, as well as a seasonal shellfish enforcement officer for Marine & Environmental Affairs, among others.

3. Another night of music is lined up at Aselton Park in Hyannis. Find out who's playing this week; all shows begin at 6 p.m. and run to 7:30 p.m.

4. In Case You Missed It: Sen. Dan Wolf said this week that he will continue his gubernatorial campaign despite a recent ruling from the state's ethics commission that Wolf's stakes in Cape Air serve as a "conflict of interest". 

5. Barnstable officials will welcome representatives from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) on Tuesday, Aug. 13 for a review session regarding FEMA's new flood insurance rate maps. The session will take place from 3-6 p.m. in the hearing room on the second floor of Barnstable Town Hall, 367 Main St. in Hyannis.
