5 Things: Hyannis Harbor Hawks Family Fun Night, Looking at Barnstable History

5 Things is a daily snapshot roundup of information on events, happenings and other news in town.

1. The Hyannis Public Library will hold an event with archivist Stephen Farrar, author of "Images of America: Barnstable", on Tuesday, July 23, at 6:30 p.m. Take a look at the development of Barnstable between 1839 and 1939 and learn how the advent of the railroad and steam-powered ships created growth in the town's seven villages. 

2. Get ready for some fun in the Hyannis area on Wednesday. The Hyannis Harbor Hawks and 99 Restaurant’s Fourth Annual Family Fun Night will take place at McKeon Park on Wednesday from 4-6 p.m. The event will include food donated by the 99 Restaurants, autograph sessions with Harbor Hawks, a Moon Bounce, flip books by Flip Chicks, Barnstable Bat, Harry the Harbor Hawk, a variety of fun games, face painting, activities and more. 

3. The Barnstable Waterways Committee will meet at 7 p.m. in the Selectmen's Meeting Room at Barnstable Town Hall in Hyannis.

4. The TD Bank Summer Concert Series will continue Tuesday night with a performance from Funktapuss at Aselton Park in Hyannis from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
