Ever wondered what a time capsule of the Cape might sound like?
Berklee College of Music professor and former Blue Man Group drummer Steve Wilkes has spent the past year and a half creating the first audio time capsule of the Cape and Islands. Steve founded the Hear Cape Cod project to record the indigenous sounds of the area - animal, ambient, and human - and archive them on a map. Guided by his musician's ear, Wilkes' recordings preserve how the ever-changing Cape landscape sounds today.
Cape Cod faces many potential challenges and developments in the years ahead, from rapidly advancing coastal erosion to the possible implementation of the Cape Wind project. With this in mind, Hear Cape Cod will provide a means to listen to the Cape, as it exists in time, now.
Join Hear Cape Cod at the Truro Public Library as Professor Wilkes provides a 2012 update to his archives as well as news about what lies ahead.
