BEGIN:VCALENDAR PRODID;X-RICAL-TZSOURCE=TZINFO:-//com.denhaven2/NONSGML ri_cal gem//EN CALSCALE:GREGORIAN VERSION:2.0 BEGIN:VEVENT DESCRIPTION:Dr. Jacquelyn James\, director of research at the Sloan Cente r on Aging and Work at Boston College and research professor at the Lync h School of Education at Boston College\, will be speaking at the Barnst able Senior Center in Hyannis on June 14\, at 7:00pm. \; Her present ation will focus on the meaning and experience of work and adult develop ment and aging. \; Her most recent publication\, The Crown of Life: Dynamics of the Early Post-retirement Period\, details the opportunities and challenges inherent in the early retirement years for new retirees. \nDr. James is also co-principal investigator of the Life &\; Times i n an Aging Society Study\, an investigation of engagement in later life. She is lead researcher on a current research project entitled\, "Engage d as We Age." \; The purpose of this project is to develop an ongoin g\, national study of aging that asks the broad question: What is the im pact of multiple engagements &mdash\; in continued work\, in volunteer a ctivities\, in education and other learning activities\, in care-giving for family members and friends&mdash\;on the mental and physical health of older people? Dr. James is past-president of the Society for the Stud y of Human Development and serves on the editorial board of the society& rsquo\;s flagship journal\, Research in Human Development. \; This presentation is a collaboration between the Marstons Mills Public Librar y and the Barnstable Senior Center.\nAdmission is free\, and all are wel come.
