Scott Brown's a handsome man. And he drives a really nice truck. There's something infinitely reassuring about a strong, smiling man driving a truck-- it speaks of the kind of love and security that arises from a thriving economy. Where jobs are plentiful, families are strong. Seeing a Scott Brown ad I always feel nostalgic--when I was little there was nothing that made me happier than the chance to ride shotgun with my dad on a trip to the dump and the hardware store.
It's because I want my grandchildren to have that same security that I'll be voting for Elizabeth Warren on Tuesday. We don't live in the world suggested by Scott Brown's truck anymore, and nostalgia won't get us back there. Families are managing by cobbling part-time jobs together, with little hope of saving for the future, of lifting their children into better lives. We need a real leader to help us find the way to achieve that stability again.
Elizabeth Warren is an expert on bankruptcy law, a professor at Harvard, and the author of (among others) "The Two-Income Trap: Why Middle-Class Mothers and Fathers are Going Broke". Her Senate candidacy is based in a nuts and bolts understanding of how our economy works. Her experience on the National Bankruptcy Commission and as an adviser to the FDIC inform her, as does her experience as a mother, and a teacher of children with disabilities.
She is extraordinarily articulate, able to say things outright that others only half-understand, and so, able to deflate popular misunderstandings and move the general discourse to a deeper level. The best example of this is her insistent reminder that no man or woman is "self-made"; that we need good government. She is the deserving heir to Senator Edward Kennedy's senate seat. There she will carry on his decades of thoughtful effort on behalf of this state-- studying the issues, finding ways to go forward socially and economically.
We need her heart and her mind to address the issues in front of us--as it is we seem to be at the mercy of a kind of corporate greed that is hard even to fathom. She is fighting that now, as money from out of state pours into Scott Brown's campaign. Who can blame businesses for wanting to deep-six the candidacy of the woman Time Magazine has called one of "the new sheriffs of Wall Street."? Brown is using that money to take cheap shots at Warren, not to reveal a vision for the Commonwealth or the nation. It's Warren who has reckoned with fiscal reality and found ways to move the country, and the many different families the country is made up of, forward. If you want a really powerful truck, and your kids piling confidently in, looking to the future with hope and excitement, you'd do well to vote for Elizabeth Warren.

"She is the deserving heir to Senator Edward Kennedy's senate seat"....give me a break! "...as money from out of state pours in Scott Brown's campaign". Excuse me, but where do you think Elizabeth's money is coming from!?

"able to say things outright that others only half-understand, and so, able to deflate popular misunderstandings and move the general discourse to a deeper level"----ummm, yeah. That should read..."able to con the half-wits and dodge the truths by throwing out other lies, deceptions and misconceptions". She is a fraud.

Great article. Speaking of the truck, Scott Brown should be watching the road while he's driving, not blathering on for an ad, not a very good example.

I will be voting for Ms. warren for all the above stated reasons, but also because she is a democrat, who should be occupying the seat formerly occupied by Senator Kennedy. How this state managed to put a republican in that seat is beyond me. Brown is a republican, who will follow the republican line, regardless of what he is now saying. The fact he has only personal attacks to launch against Ms. Warren, in his t.v. ads, which are rife with falsehoods. How any working class man or woman, who lives from paycheck to paycheck (or pretty close to it) can vote for ANY republican, with all that's at stake for the working class of America, is beyond my ability to comprehend. I will vote a straight Democratic ballot Nov 6th, and for the forseeable future, until I see some semblance of sanity return to the Republican party.

I agree. When someone like Richard Lugar is cast out of his seat....well it's mindboggling. I hope they get it together-- we need thoughtful debate, not this silliness....fiddling, and filibustering, while Rome burns.

This seat you refer to is Senator Scott Brown's seat. What's a shame is all that time Kennedy occupied that seat because of the foolish voters in this liberal state. If you are for equal rights and pay for women how do you feel about crimes such as murder?Mary Jo's life was not a priority to Ted the night he drove her into the water off Chappaquiddick and left her to die while his drunk *ss sobered up for 9 hours.

Thank you for all the comments, it's very interesting, and telling, to hear what the different sides have to say.
I only wish I'd spoken more strongly here-- we have the chance to elect a real statesperson, whose vision has already made a difference, through her government work, teaching, and writings. She's very clear about her objectives, and about working with President Obama for the wellbeing of the whole country....NOT the corporations. She represents all the best of Massachusetts' long liberal tradition. She's someone we can be proud to call our Senator.

Vote for Elizabeth Warren. She is intelligent and knows the issues. If you want to know how Scott Brown really voted in the senate Google the Congressional Record and click on Massachusetts and Scott Brown. He has NOT been truthful regarding his voting record. Vote President Obama and Elizabeth Warren

Professor Elizabeth Warren is a pawn of the Democratic National Party . The professor is into socialism .The suffering of one is the suffering of all .
Professor Warren already has her money and will have elite status in a socialist type of government !
The road is clear a vote for Professor Elizabeth Warren is a vote for Socialism. She thinks the middle class lives in public housing on welfare and food stamps !
While a vote for Scott Brown is a vote for the American way of life and the American Dream .

Warren is the elitist's elitist. The woman doesn't have an authentic bone in her body. I'm not surprised she's lionized by the lemming Left

To me "the American way of life" means working together toward the common good. Scott Brown hasn't shown a cohesive vision of the way he wants to serve the country's best interests--even through his voting record. But Elizabeth Warren's convictions are clear, and clearly centered on the public good. See you at the polls!

If Fidel Castro was the Democratic candidate for senator in Massachusetts he would win.
In Massachusetts, if you register as an independent, you can vote for either the Republican or Democratic.
Independents back Scott Brown 100 %

Go Scott Brown. All of us military folks are behind you. Just image he had "claimed" to be military and he was not. That would be akin to Elousybeth and her fake claims. Such a fraud.

Well, if the latest news about Lizzie ain't a hoot. She raises $42 million and spends more than that becoming Senator. Just what makes anyone who can't rein in her campaign expenses qualified to help rein in the out of control budget? She wants the Government to forgive student loans? How does this NOT further the deficit? I am not long for this State. The Massachusetts sheep (aka the Democrats) will believe any clown/rule breaker/heritage creator that comes along..... so long as they fly the donkey flag.
As this country goes down the dumper and as they Chinese start to spend their dollars buying America one business and on house at a time, remember, you elected these fools we have running the country........... this gal being the newest give it all away multi-millionaire Dem.
