Visions for Vacancies in Barnstable: Festival at Hyannis Shopping Plaza
What businesses would you like to see behind the vacant storefront in Festival at Hyannis Shopping Plaza?
Our new Visions for Vacancies feature is where we find a place where you can weigh in with your ideas about what kind of businesses you’d like to see occupying empty storefronts around town.
Each week, we’ll highlight a vacant building, storefront or structure around town. And we’ll leave it you, the Barnstable community, to sound off on what you’d like to see there before any plans go before town boards.
This week we’re taking a look at the Festival Plaza in Hyannis on Route 132. There seems to be a lot of empty space.
But what would you like to behind those brick and glass walls? The area has several places to grab a bite and assorted retail offerings, but maybe you have an idea of what would compliment existing businesses or fill a void of what’s lacking in this shopping plaza.
So, if you had your way—and, for the purpose of this discussion, let’s try not to focus too much on zoning restrictions—what would be your vision for this vacancy? Let us know what you think in the comment section below.

It would be a great place for local artist to occupy.

Oh yoga would be amazing. I actually could also see a juice bar or a place to cozy up with a beverage after a day of shopping.

An upscale Gentleman's Club would certainly get plenty of summer tourist business from dads who drop off the wife and kids at the beach or the island ferry for the day!
