Barnstable narcotics detectives focused on the Cromwell Court Apartment complex after neighbors complained about flagrant drug deals taking place, according to a press release.

Following an investigation police obtained and executed a search warrant at an apartment in building five, Friday January 25. Police arrested Prince Wright, 35, for possession of cocaine and heroin with intent to distribute.

Police continued their investigation into drug sales at the complex and allege they conducted a series of undercover cocaine purchases from Jason Mello, 25.

While staking out the apartment complex Detectives and officers with the Street Crime Unit allege they saw Mello conduct what appeared to be a drug transaction in the parking lot at around 9 p.m. Thursday night.

Detectives and SCU officers then executed a warrant in Mello’s apartment and seized numerous baggies of suspected heroin and marijuana, plastic baggies, digital scales, about $5 thousand in cash and a loaded .22 caliber pistol. Officers also confiscated a stun gun from the apartment.

Police also arrested Mello’s father, Domingo Mello, 70, who the apartment belongs to.

Jason Mello was charged with possession of heroin with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, and unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition. Domingo Mello was charged with unlawful possession of a stun gun.

Both men were arraigned in Barnstable District Court this morning.
