Traffic Re-Routed at Barnstable Municipal Airport

The new traffic pattern is in effect and construction of the access road is nearly complete with just three telephone polls waiting to be moved by Verizon.

With its new passenger terminal nearing completion, Barnstable
Municipal Airport has put into place a new traffic pattern for motorists
traveling in and out of the current terminal. The entrance off Barnstable
Road near the Airport Rotary has been closed, and all incoming and exiting
traffic has been re-routed.

Traffic approaching the airport from Exit 6 of the Mid-Cape Highway or Route
132 should use Attucks Lane and follow it to Airport Road where a second a
left turn will lead to the airport via the newly-opened access road.
Route 28 traffic from West Yarmouth now uses a new airport entrance ramp
across from the VFW building and follows a newly-constructed looping roadway
to the right to reach the terminal.

Motorists dropping off or picking up passengers in front of the terminal
should use the rotary then turn right onto Hinckley Road off Rte. 132, and
proceed to Barnstable Road where they should make another right turn and
head to the loop road entrance on the left before reaching the rotary.
Motorists leaving the terminal will return to Barnstable Road and turn left
toward the rotary or right toward Hinckley Road and Airport Road, via the
access road.

The main airport parking entrance, exit and ticket vending machine have been
relocated to the right along Barnstable Road, in front of the new passenger
terminal. Motorists still will be able to park free for up to 30 minutes to
drop off or pick up passengers.

Rental car pick-up and return services will be in the new parking lot at the
end of Barnstable Road across from the Island Airlines hangar.
All other traffic routing for businesses located at or near the airport
remains unchanged; they also may be reached from the new access road.
