Three Hyannis Men Arrested in Connection to Armed Robbery
Charges are expected to be brought against the three men in connection to two other armed robberies.
A paper bag full of donuts is all three blade wielding, masked men got away with after committing armed robbery at Dunkin' Donuts on West Main Street in Hyannis on Wednesday night.
Last night police arrested three men in connection to the armed robbery and are still investigating two very similar armed robberies at Domino's Pizza and Blanchard's liquors that happened within the last week. Police expect armed robbery charges to be brought against the trio for these robberies as well, Detective Lieutenant Sean Balcom said.
Police arrested and charged Charles Iliffe, 20, of Hyannis, Nicholas Mercurio, 19, of Hyannis and Lukas Peterson, 21, of Hyannis with armed robbery while masked.
Video surveillance and witness reports lead police to the three men.
Victims of the armed robbery told police the three masked men waited in the rear of the building, two had knives and one had a hatchet. The men confronted two female employees exiting the building after it closed and forced them back into the building at knife point, according to police.
Police said the suspects believed one victim was carrying the business' cash in a paper bag in her purse. The employee handed over the paper bag, full of donuts, as instructed and the men fled the scene without ever looking inside.
Barnstable Detective Therese Gallant conducted the follow up investigation and was able to recover the weapons used in the armed robbery.
The three suspects will be arraigned in Barnstable District Court today.

Too funny that they demanded a bag of donuts! I'd love to have been a fly on the wall to hear the Dunkin Donuts workers laugh at them after they left.
On a more serious note these three may not realize it but their lives are already over. Armed robbery is a 5 year mandatory sentence - no parole - no time off. No one will hire them when they get out and if they had any support from their families that will be at an all time low. As Gail Matthews pointed out they are likely to be on the State's dime after release also and probably headed right back to jail at some future date.
It'll be interesting if they try the three cases separately to see whether they can be hit as habitual offenders for 3 armed robberies.
