Rice Leads Red Raiders Past D-Y Dolphins

Barnstable raised its record to 9-2 last night in Hyannis in a decisively defensive, 61-48 tilt that was paced by senior captain Charlie Rice's 24 points while Jake Kipnes scored 8 points and had 8 assists.

Early on, this one was close.

Tied at 13-13 after the first quarter, Barnstable held a slim 24-22 lead at the half, but then broke things open in the third quarter and never looked back.

The Red Raider boys basketball team defeated the visiting Dennis-Yarmouth Dolphins for the second time this season, 61-48, but truth be told, the boys in Red & White likely have their sights set on Friday night's big OCL game at Dartmouth. The Red Raiders are 2-0 in the Old Colony League standings and are 9-2 on the season.

Last night, the weight of success laid heavily upon senior captain Charlie Rice's shoulders as the big man went 11-15 from the floor and 2-3 from the line for a season- and career-high 24 points. Fellow big man Nick Peabody collected 10 points in his sixth double-digit game of the season. BHS point man Jake Kipnes turned in likely his best offensive effort of the season with a matching 8 points and 8 assists.

Dennis-Yarmouth's junior captain Jamaree Hall scored 16 points for the Dolphins.
