New Stop & Shop Opening July 27

The new Stop & Shop on Route 132 in Hyannis is set to open on July 27.

The new Stop & Shop on Route 132 in Hyannis is set to open on July 27 at 7am, according to a The Barnstable Patriot report.

"The new 65,000-square-foot stand-alone store, developed by Atlantis Development for Stop & Shop, was more than a decade in the making," The Barnstable Patriot reported.

While it's been a decade in the making, how do you think it will impact us in the decade to come? Will it open the door for more big businesses to revamp Route 132? Cause more traffic? Be a great shopping spot? Tell us in the comments!

Has anyone found the newly renovated intersection at RT 132 and Bearse's a little unfair for the pre existing plaza. I'm talking about where Mike's pizza is. They created a median in front of the entrance... It's my opinion that even if the median was 100% necessary they could have at least provided an area to U-turn back into the plaza. Instead you have to drive toward the new stop and shop parking lot, and turn around. Or just plan ahead and enter from the new Attucks lane entrance to avoid an annoying turn around

Just another excuse to price gouge. The new store is/was unnecessary. I was personally more excited about the Sagamore Market Basket opening this summer. We need MB to come to Hyannis or Yarmouth. Oh well, maybe they'll build one in the empty Stop & Shop space. That would be far better for Hyannis in the decade to come.

Agreed with the previous comment about the median. It makes getting into Dunkin Donuts a hassle!
