The victim told police Torres allegedly tried to fight him at a Centerville party. The victim said he left the party in his gray BMW and headed down Route 28 toward Hyannis. The victim said Torres followed him, tried to pass him in front of Centerville's Bell Tower Mall and sideswiped him along the way to the package store.

According to the report, Torres - allegedly chasing the BMW in a minivan used as a New York cab - screeched to a halt in front of car and cut it off lengthwise in front of the package store. That is when Torres allegedly got out of the car and used a machete to threaten, attack and vandalize the BMW.

The victim told police Torres swung the machete "wildly."

Torres allegedly hacked away at the car, broke the windshield and tried to pull the victim from the car, the report stated. All the while another man watched.

Ricardo Narvaez, who lives with Torres, was placed in protective custody after being identified by the victim as the man who accompanied Torres.

Police found Narvaez, Torres and the minivan with a flat tire and damage consistent with the BMW damage in the Bobby Byrne's parking lot.

Torres told police he borrowed the minivan cab from a friend in New York for the weekend. Police were unable to verify if the vehicle was stolen.

Torres plead not guilty to his charges in Barnstable First District Court today.
