Hyannis Teen Sentenced in Mendes Murder
The third defendant accused of killing 16-year-old Jordan Mendes in 2008 was sentenced to remain in custody for his role in the crime until his 18th birthday in March 2013.
Kevin Ribeiro pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of assault and battery in a plea deal November 9. Ribeiro is one of three charged in the death of Jordan Mendes. Mendes was stabbed 27 times and shot during a robbery in 2008, according to the Cape Cod Times.
The victim’s half brother, 23-year-old Robert Vacher was convicted of first degree murder in November of 2011 and sentenced to life in prison without parole. The third defendant, 17-year-old Mkyel Mendes, pleaded guilty this year to illegally possessing a firearm and being an accessory to the crime and was sentenced to remain in custody until his 18th birthday in March.
Because both Mykel Mendes and Kevin Ribeiro were under the age of 14 at the time of the murder they could not be charged as adults. The two were given the maximum sentences allowed for juveniles.

Yes I do wanna leave a comment. Why did they hang the 20 year old. They had to nail someone. IMO Mendes would have taken more lives with his chosen profession than just the one which was his own. When u live like a thug (what is it they say; the dope dealers? Countin' cash til my fingez be crampin'!) Well, better him than all the addicts they prey on. Not a huge loss to the world and
a loss to his family bc they were probably reaping the bennies from his drug money too. Harsh but true
