Hyannis Chamber Looking for Award Nominations

Each year, the Hyannis Area Chamber of Commerce honors outstanding businesses, business people, and citizens.

 

Awards will be given at the Hyannis Chamber's 30th Annual Meeting and Dinner will be held October 3, 2012 at the Cape Codder Resort & Spa.

If you know of a deserving person and or business, please review the awards and criteria below and submit your nominations to Jessica Sylver at jessica@hyannis.com or hard copy to P.O. Box 100, Hyannis, MA 02601 August 31st.

The Awards:

Patrick Butler Citizen of the Year   

This award recognizes those who have distinguished themselves through their volunteerism; those whose dedication to their occupation is substantially beyond the normal performance of one’s job description, with an emphasis on community involvement; and those that have made a recognizable contribution to business in town.

JFK Jr. Community Service Award

The John F. Kennedy Jr. Community Service Award is given annually to a person who has demonstrated exemplary service to the Hyannis area community during the Chamber’s fiscal year. The award was created to honor the memory of John F. Kennedy Jr. whose passing deeply moved and affected the Cape Cod community and, specifically, the Hyannis area.  It was deemed appropriate by the Board of Directors as the Chamber owns and operates the John F. Kennedy Hyannis Museum.  Rose Kennedy frequently quoted St. Luke from the Bible, “To whom much is given, much is required.” Members of the HACC Board of Directors are not eligible for nomination.

Annual Business of the Year

This award recipient must be HACC Member in good standing.  Choose at least ONE of the following qualifications and submit supporting details a. Example(s) of good business practices/stability; b. Examples(s) of innovation in products or services; c. Examples(s) of response to industry or business-related adversity; d. Sales/history/expansion/market increase; e. Management philosophy; f. Community involvement.  Nominees will be judged on quality of nomination(s), not quantity; and The Business of the Year selections, based on the nominations received, will be made by the Hyannis Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors.

Henry C. Farnham Unsung Hero Award 

This is an award given on a periodic basis to a business person in the community who leads or participates in a project that, over the course of the years, impacts the community in very quiet ways.
