Hunt Fends Off Ellis in 5th Barnstable District Race

Incumbent State Representative Randy Hunt defeated challenger Patrick Ellis and will return to the Massachusetts House for another term.

Representative Hunt (R) was first elected to represent the 5th Barnstable District in 2010, when he won the seat vacated by Rep. Jeff Perry.  Democrat Patrick Ellis, who had previously served on the Sandwich Board of Selectmen, conceded the race shortly after 9pm.

“I appreciate everybody’s vote of confidence and that they have trust in me,” said Hunt.

According to Sandwich and Barnstable officials, 12,448 voters cast ballots in support of Rep. Hunt, giving him approximately 56.2% of the vote.  Patrick Ellis secured 9,689 votes and earned 43.8% of the vote.

Maybe he shouldn't have handed out flyers saying he was going make the people pay and dig in their pockets. Bad choice Mr. Ellis, never tell the people your going to make them pay more and then ask for their vote. I was impressed that you came door to door and you had my vote, till I read your flyer.
