Five Things You Need to Know Today: July 29

  1. The National Weather Service predicts it will be mostly cloudy, with a high near 78. South wind between 8 and 14 mph. Tonight:  Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm before 2am, then a chance of showers. Some of the storms could produce gusty winds and heavy rain. 
  2. Starting August 1, EVERY Tuesday during the month of August (there are 5 of them) Not Your Average Joe's will donate 15% of your bill to the Barnstable Education Foundation (excludes alcohol, tax and gratuity). All you have to do is hand the server a NYAJ Cause Certificate (attached to this article in the PDF).
  3. The Barnstable Youth Hockey Association is selling raffle tickets for an authentic Nathan Horton signed hockey stick! Tickets are just $10 or 3 for $25! The winner will be drawn on September 24 at the Hyannis Youth & Community Center. Buy tickets at the HYCC.
  4. From 10 am to 4 pm stop by the temporary Arts Foundation of Cape Cod location at 394 Main Street, Hyannis to see a acrylic painter Kimberly Daigle and Jazz Duo Goodis and Glen.
  5. The Sarah Swain Band plays from 6-7:30 pm at Aselton Park.
