Cape Woman to Become Only Woman Airline President in U.S.
Marstons Mills resident Linda Markham will soon become the next president of Cape Air and the only woman president of a North American airline.
Markham, currently the airline’s chief administration officer, will take over for current President Dave Bushy when he retires in March, according to a press release.
Markham, 49, has worked with the airline since 2002 when she ran the human resources department, according to the Boston Globe. During her years with Cape Air Markham also servced as executive vice president.
“I am honored to have been entrusted with this opportunity, and I am thrilled to continue guiding this organization alongside Dan. We share the philosophy that service and corporate culture are paramount, and that people are our most valuable asset. If we continue to improve the employee experience, it will ultimately improve the customer experience,” Markham said in a statement.
Cape Air Founder and CEO, Dan Wolf, said he looks forward to working with Markham in her new role.
“Linda has provided remarkable leadership to not only the operational and financial divisions of Cape Air, but more importantly, she has been able to develop and grow employee and customer experiences to a level that has made Cape Air a model in the airline industry,” Wolf said in a statement.
