Q: What did you dream of being as a kid?

A: I was really into science and animals when I was little. For a while I was intent on being chemist or astronaut, but I also wanted to own a pet store or be a vet.

Q: How does your personality play into your business?

A: I like to think I have a great sense of humor and eclectic fashion sense. I try to bring that into the products I choose to carry be it collars with tattoo koi print or fetch toys in the shape of moustaches.

Q: At what moment did you decide to open a business?

A: I worked for a few years in a small office, and during that time, my dog and best friend Rocko had been diagnosed with lung cancer.

In the days leading up to his passing I was frustrated and sad that I had to spend most of them at work instead of being with him. I decided then that I needed to find a way to not only support my dogs and family but spend as much time with them as possible. Opening a dog boutique has allowed me to do just that, as well as to become more involved in the Cape’s dog community.

Q: What inspired you?

A: Dogs inspire me :) They live every day in the moment and truly enjoy it. They don’t worry about having the latest gadget or paying the bills. Dogs know that everything will work out eventually. They’re always happy to see you and they love you unconditionally. If that isn’t inspiring then I don’t know what is.

Q: Describe the biggest challenge of owning a business in the town of Barnstable?

A: The seasonality I’m sure will provide a challenge, but hopefully I’ll have developed a local following by the end of the summer (and I have some awesome ideas for the fall and holiday seasons). Also lets hope the Red Sox make it to the world series. Dogs like to show team pride too!

The other challenge for me has been the permitting process. It’s very confusing at times, but the staff at Town Hall & at the Town office building has been super helpful.

Q: Describe the best thing about owning a business in the town of Barnstable?

A: The community, hands down. My neighbors on Main Street have made me feel so welcome and have been so supportive that I don’t know what to do with myself. I can’t even tell you how appreciative I am. Phil and his family at , the wonderful ladies at - major props and a shout out to them.

Q: What is one thing you would never change about your business?

A: Doggies! I want to remain first and foremost all about the dogs! Whether I’m hosting an adoption event or enjoying a quiet Wednesday on Main Street, I want each and every dog and dog owner to feel welcome.

Q: What is your business’ greatest asset?

A: My family and friends and all of the people who have helped me realize my dream. I couldn’t have done it without them! Thanks for the support, and putting up with all the crazy! I love you all!

Q: What is your favorite spot in town?

A: Ohhhh, that’s a tough one… is a favorite (dogs allowed on the drive on side!). And I love . The food is crazy good, and the atmosphere is awesome. and are great for shopping and has amazing tattoo artists. Honestly there are too many places I love here to even list. I’d keep going, but we’ll be here for a while if I do.

Q: What’s one thing the community should know about you?

A: That’s easy! I heart dogs. And I love supporting the community. I am trying my best to bring in offerings from local or small time manufacturers and I’m always on the lookout for new items.
