The Greater Hyannis Civic Association’s Supporting Our Youth Task Force is currently seeking volunteers, aged 18 and older, to provide support and guidance for students in grades 4-7 with their required summer reading.
Volunteers are needed for one hour per week for six weeks to work with students individually or in small groups to read, discuss and complete assignments related to one of the summer reading list books from the Barnstable Horace Mann Charter School or Barnstable Intermediate School.
The program will take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays from July 10th through August 16th. Volunteers can choose 11am-12pm at the Hyannis Public Library or 4-5pm at the Hyannis Youth and Community Center’s United Cultures Resource Room on either Tuesdays or Thursdays.
We will have an informational session about the program for prospective volunteers on Monday, June 18th from 4-5pm at the Hyannis Youth and Community Center. Please RSVP to Dianne James, Summer Reading Coordinator, at hysoytaskforce@gmail.com or (508) 258-9111.
