A team of five friends, calling themselves the “Village People,” will host a wine tasting fundraiser on Sunday, April 15, 2012 from 3:00pm to 5:30pm at the Barnstable Restaurant and Tavern on Route 6A in Barnstable Village.

The event will support the “Village People” efforts, when they participate in the two day 39 mile “Avon Walk for Breast Cancer in May.

Colleen Flemming of Centerville, Julie Greenspon and Janice Matheson of Yarmouth Port, Elena Nikovola of Dennis and Alison Haynes-Perry of Barnstable will be walking both in memory of family and friends and in honor of a friend and co-worker currently undergoing breast cancer treatment.

Tickets for the wine tasting are $20 and the event will include a silent auctions and raffle items. The wine tasting will include wines contributed by the Trio Wine Company, Ruby Wines, Inc and Carolina Wines.

Donations of auction and raffle items are welcome and already include a private wine tasting in your home with wine expert Wendy Koder of “Wendy Talks Wines.”
