HyArts District First Designated Cultural Spot on Cape
Tuesday afternoon, the Massachusetts Cultural Council Board officially named the downtown Hyannis area as the Cape’s first state designated cultural district.
The town and its partners the Cape Cod Art Association, Hyannis Area Chamber of Commerce and the Hyannis Main Street Business Improvement District have been working for months on the extensive application process.
The benefits of state designation are numerous.
In addition to state wide and national marketing opportunities, the HyArts Cultural District will work with the MCC and partners to further develop current arts related economic development strategies, including encouraging business and job growth and expanding tourism.
This designation will help to enhance and grow the already successful arts and culture programs and events in the HyArts Cultural District.
Congratulations to all partners and participants –we look forward to all the benefits of keeping downtownHyannis the place to live, work, shop, play and visit!

Does that mean that the Barnstable board will loosen the reigns on noise AKA music being allowed to fill the air within reason???

I'm not sure. I bet the noise ordinances will still be in place, but perhaps a new take on permitting events. I know this designation was due to all the programming and work put towards the town's arts efforts.
